Remy Hair
Remy or Remi is not a brand name. The term refers to the characteristics in the hair. Remy hair is collected from a donor and stored with the cuticle intact, roots aligned This means all the hair follicles flow in a single direction. The hair is shinier, softer, more durable and has a much longer life than non-Remy hair. The hair is also less likely to tangle and matt. Remy is also commonly known as cuticle hair.
Virgin Hair
Remy hair can be virgin (unprcocessed) or processed for color or texture. As long as the cuticle is aligned and intact, the hair is considered Remy. However the best quality Remy is Virgin because it has not been processed and is in its natural state. Virgin Remy is very soft and silky and 100% natural. Indian, Asian, Brazilian, Mongolian and Malaysian virgin hair tends to be very dark and medium brown in color. Virgin hair can be straight, wavy or curly in texture. However any hair that has been processed for texture, for example Yaki, body waves, kinky, curls, etc. are no longer considered virgin. Likewise if Remy hair has been altered in color, it is also processed and no longer virgin. In a nutshell, virgin hair is also Remy but not all Remy hair is virgin. Silky Straight
Silky Straight is straight, silky, smooth and shiny. It resembles European hair textures. Indian Remy silky straight hair dries with a slight wave after washing. Chinese Remy silky straight remains straighter, but is slightly coarser than Indian Remy hair. Chinese Remy does not hold curls as well as Indian Remy.
Yaki Hair
Yaki is hair of Indian or Chinese origin which has been processed to resemble relaxed African American hair. Yaki can have a light or coarse texture. Light Yaki is straight hair without the silky shine. Light yaki texture looks like wavy or loose curly hair that has been straightened or relaxed. It is similar to freshly permed/relaxed Black American hair.
Yaki is slightly coarser than light yaki. This texture resembles tight curly, slightly coarse hair which has been straightened or relaxedYaki vs. Silky Straight
Kinky Straight
Kinky straight hair resembles black American "pressed" or "blown-out" hair. It can also be flat ironed and curled straight. The hair will return to its original texture once wet/washed and conditioned.
Remy Curly or Wavy
Remy curly hair has been processed to achieve a curly or wavy texture. The curl texture is usually a silky pattern suitable for most ethnic groups. Jheri or Afro curl has a coarser texture to resemble black American hair.
